Bill Prast, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 82 at his home in London on July 10, 2024.
A proud native of Brooklyn, NY, Bill held a BSc and MSc in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, and a PhD in Mineral Economics, from Pennsylvania State University. He was also awarded an MSt in Archaeology from Lincoln College, Oxford. An avid traveller, he explored over 80 countries, immersing himself in cultures and histories from around the world. His travels enriched his life and provided captivating stories he loved to share.
A man of exceptional intellect, Bill was also deeply spiritual. He had many passions, including theology, ancient history, coins and antique silver. His personal collections are a testament to his curiosity, digilence and scholarship.
As a professional advisor to the extractive industries, even at 82, Bill actively worked with a range of international clients, reflecting his enduring dedication and expertise. Respected by his peers, Bill's professional legacy is one of admiration, inspiration and mentorship.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jane, his best friend and partner of sixty-five years. His children, Charles and Jennifer, and his cherished grandchildren will forever remember him as a source of wisdom and love. His friends will also remember his wit, compassion and generosity of spirit.
Bill's sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. Though gone too soon, his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created.
